There is a discussion on the web of importance of original content on your blog pages vs. syndication (small excerpts from other site posts with link, there is also problem of reprinting material.) I think to understand what is what here first we should divide niche blogging into two categories based on what particular blog offer to visitors: 1.Opinions and thoughts on some Subject(s). 2. focusing on Products like cameras, cars, software etc. Here I assume that either subjects not invented or products not produced by blogger. Gaining some site design experience, I can say that one of the most important things I learnt when working on my sites, is the fact that it’s very difficult (if possible?) to find a balance between coolness of the design and accessibility of web pages. Whether it is a personal blog or corporate portal, accessibility is important. With this article I start a new topic covering blogging issues. Walking around on the net I found some publications on blogging issues. I think any blogger - whether he is running small site for expressing himself on the net or publisher whose goal is to develop business is interested in what is better for increasing audience. One of the topics covering blogging issues focus on this. And question is: what is better - to have one blog covering several topics or divide it and have a portfolio of blogs and focuse each blog on one topic (niche blogging)? Read more.. »

SlideShow function for Lazyest-gallery updated and available: Lazyest SlideShow Function. I wonder if anybody uses it. Anyway, I post this small update. Background color parameter added. Instruction and function code is inside txt file. Copy and paste function code into lazyest-gallery.php file. Call and parameters usage described in file.

Added theme switcher by Ryan Boren. I use two themes Labs and MyTheme - both are deep modifications of Kubrick theme and are identical in what I call “content flow management”. All differences only in CSS styling. When on single post page you can see latest 5 posts in that category. Labs theme uses random header picture.

I noticed some strange thing with this theme switcher. When I was validating the Labs theme page it looked like Validator checked pages belonging to both - Labs and MyTheme. Hope there are no other effects , especially on accessibility of my pages.

Also, both themes uses a chunk of code to show random post from particular category on top of home page. If there are no posts then it shows nothing. if only one post in that category then this post will be shown. This is useful in two cases. If you want to make anouncements from time to time- you drop in that category a post. Or you may use it to give visitors pieces of information, randomly. Those , who visited my site before may have noticed random funny sayngs displayed on top.
