Lenovo and Cingular have released the first ThinkPad T60 notebooks using Cingular’s 3G wireless network. Integrating 3G is not a first for ThinkPads. Lenovo debuted Verizon BroadbandAccess ThinkPads last Fall, which worked with Verizon’s EV-DO network. Now, Cingular customers can get high-speed wireless connectivity, too.

BroadbandConnect service is availale in more than 50 cities – with many more coming this year. Beyond those markets, customers seamlessly move to Cingular’s national EDGE network. EDGE is the largest national high-speed wireless data network, with coverage in over 13,000 cities and along almost 40,000 miles of U.S. highways, reaching more than 250 million people, and still growing.

The Cingular network is built on GSM technology — the global standard for wireless communications. In order to use the service, customers must purchase a service plan from Cingular costing about $59.99 per month, depending on your contract, for use within the U.S.
