HP Pavilion dv2000t
HP Pavilion dv2000 series includes two models: dv2000z, powered by AMD AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Mobile up to TL-52 (1.60GHz) and Mobile AMD Sempron processors up to 3400 (1.8GHz) and dv2000t, powered by Intel® Core™ Solo or Duo processors up to T2600 (2.16 GHz).
The HP Pavilion dv2000 series notebook combines a stylish design with durability and entertainment. Each features HP’s new Imprint finish–an elegant, high-gloss, durable design, plus you get touch-sensitive, back-lit media controls. There’s also an integrated Webcam and omni-directional microphone for live video chat plus easy capture and sending of still shots and video clips. Other cool features include HP QuickPlay, which lets you watch movies and listen to music without booting up, a 5-in-one digital media card reader for fast photo transfer, dual headphone jacks, and an optional LightScribe drive that lets you imprint CDs and DVDs with your own silkscreen-quality labels.
“With the release of the HP Pavilion dv2000, HP inaugurates a new look and feel for its Pavilion line of laptops. Departing from the familiar matte silver-and-black case, the HP Pavilion dv2000 has sleek rounded edges, a high-gloss finish (which HP says is particularly scratch resistant), and a subtle Zen wave design on the lid.
Looks aside, however, the HP Pavilion dv2000 sticks to the same basic script as previous Pavilion models: you get a strong set of components and most of the features that a home user will want for a competitive price, starting at $830. HP has also upped the ante with the HP Pavilion dv2000’s processor options: you can configure it with either an Intel Core Solo or Core Duo, or AMD Sempron or Turion 64 X2 processors. The Turion-powered HP Pavilion dv2000z was unimpressive in the performance and battery-life categories, but the HP Pavilion dv2000t–thanks to its superspeedy 2.16GHz Core Duo processor and larger battery–scored well in both arenas.
When it comes to design, features, and software, the HP Pavilion dv2000 is virtually identical to the Compaq Presario V3000, with the exception of a Webcam built into the Pavilion’s lid. For complete details about the HP Pavilion dv2000’s overall design, feature set, and warranty, head on over to CNET’s HP Compaq Presario V3000 review.
Where the two models differ is configuration: the HP Pavilion Pavilion adds the option of discrete graphics into the component mix, though our HP Pavilion dv2000t review unit used an integrated Intel GMA 950 video card to power its glossy, 14.1-inch, 1,280×800 native resolution. The $1,850 configuration also had a 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2GB of fast 667MHz RAM, a 120GB hard drive spinning at 5,400rpm, and the 12-cell extended battery. In CNET Labs’ mobile benchmarks, the HP Pavilion dv2000t ran almost 30 percent faster than its Turion-powered sibling, though it managed only an insignificant 2 percent performance advantage over the 1.86GHz Dell Inspiron E1405. With the extended battery, which weighs 1.4 pounds and sticks out from the bottom of the notebook, the HP Pavilion dv2000t lasted 6 hours, 1 minute away from an outlet. Though 6 hours might get most people through the day, the Dell Inspiron E1405 trounced the HP Pavilion dv2000t, with a battery life of 7 hours, 21 minutes.” - CNET.COM
