Sneaky Microsoft plan to offer Windows 10 as free upgrade from Windows 7 worked on me, well.. it didn’t quite work on me – by that time I already converted myself to Linux, but was running virtual Windows boxes just in case of using some weird software I liked and couldn’t find Linux equivalent.
For the sake of clean scientific experiment I installed Windows 7 on one of my laptops and then immediately upgraded it to windows 10 using constructed Windows 10 ISO. Continue reading “Windows 10. What really is this animal?”
I had rewrited Slideshow module for Zoom Gallery (popular gallery component for Joomla/Mambo). This release’s coding is based on official module (version:2b234) For Zoom Gallery V2.5rc1 by Per Lasse Baasch. This is beta release. Slideshow engine is more robust and cross-browser compatible than in previous releases of Slideshow module. The cool fading effect works in IE, NS6+/ Firefox, and Safari 2, while all other browsers such as Opera 8 will simply skip the effect but continue to display the images.
Slideshow pauses OnMouseOver event. Images are linkable with ability to choose between PopUp Zoom Slideshow in bigger window or Zoom category view mode. Actually, this module has all major features of official module by Per Lasse Baasch, but dynamically rotates images with fading effect! Continue reading “SlideShow Module for Zoom Gallery Download”
This is my attempt to stress out my impressions of WordPress. Now after two months of intensive use of WordPress I think I can compare this brilliant blogging software with Joomla CMS (formerly Mambo), I used before. Some of you will say that Joomla and WordPress are different conceptually. Yes, they are. And I will keep this in my mind. I will compare them as personal publishing platforms. First, even completely different software can be compared in terms of usability, expandability, speed and potential for future growth. Continue reading “WordPress compared to Joomla”
Welcome to mamboat.com. I moved the site from mambo/Joomla CMS to WordPress . Mostly because i noticed recently (during my fight with Joomla ) that there are issues , mainly ITEMID issue, which will not be fixed until version 2.0 , which means years to come. I also found that admin side of Joomla is very complicated. It is flexible and one can choose and change many small things but… i found that most presentation changes which i did, i did from opposite side – template. And if you decide to delete all “example” content which comes with the installation it becomes real puzzle to make a new content structure. At the same time i noticed that WordPress is becoming very attractive and, actually , one can use it as a starting level CMS. Installation is simple. Admin side is fast and clear. No tables. Very clean and simple code.
I also canceled my work on ZoomGallery SlideShow module for mambo/Joomla. Although at some point i even upgraded it to be compatible with current ZoomGallery version. I can send this module to anybody on e-mail.
UPDATE: Zoom Gallery Slideshow Module is rewrited and available for download !
