I had rewrited Slideshow module for Zoom Gallery (popular gallery component for Joomla/Mambo). This release’s coding is based on official module (version:2b234) For Zoom Gallery V2.5rc1 by Per Lasse Baasch. This is beta release. Slideshow engine is more robust and cross-browser compatible than in previous releases of Slideshow module. The cool fading effect works in IE, NS6+/ Firefox, and Safari 2, while all other browsers such as Opera 8 will simply skip the effect but continue to display the images.
Slideshow pauses OnMouseOver event. Images are linkable with ability to choose between PopUp Zoom Slideshow in bigger window or Zoom category view mode. Actually, this module has all major features of official module by Per Lasse Baasch, but dynamically rotates images with fading effect!

ChangeLog:
- June 09,2006 - Release v1.3b. OnlyThisCategory bug fix

- March 04,2006 - Release V1.1b. Bug fixed: slideshow did not work when some components and modules are active. I noticed this when RCGallery running and official module for Zoom Gallery active. Code cleaned.

- February 21,2006 - Initial release.
Download note: Sometimes I make minor adjustments to the code, but do not reflect this in Version number and Changes Log. Those changes may help improve reliability. So, if for some reason, module is not working in your Joomla environment, then try to load latest zip file from this location.
Notes: Make sure that Zoom Gallery component produces thumbs in consistent way. Sometimes, I noticed, thumbs generated are very different in sizes. This may be caused by errors in GD and Zoom. You may see those thumbs when viewing particular gallery page in admin section. UPDATE: this definitely caused by zOOm bug. This bug is not resolved, though users reported it on forum a year ago.
Also, I think official module’s “StyleResizeSize” parameter is useless - when you got different Width/Height images, it stretches small images to the specified size, thus degrading pics quality. This module uses SlideShow window size. If specified 100px then this means that SlideShow window is 100×100 px.
Slideshow window size (set through module admin side) must be equal or slightly bigger then thumbs size as set in Zoom Component.
Make sure you got at least 11 pics in your gallery, otherwise module will report errors 1000 -1001,1002 etc., same as in official zoom module. This errors are generated if number of pics in your gallery is less or equal 10. Also keep in mind that these 11 pics should have “public” access(set through particular picture settings “Members” tab)
To make fading effect nice, set background color (default is white). Slideshow window is centered horizontally and aligned to the top vertically.
Tested on WindowsXP SP2. Joomla1.0.7 (basic installation - no third party components and/or modules), ZoomGallery V2.5rc1. Browsers:IE6,FireFox1.5,Opera8.2
Attention: have not tested it in all possible configurations for Zoom Component !
Questions, suggestions are welcome through comments to this post.
the thumbs are not consistent…. of varying sizes…how can i make them of uniform size
Are they different as seen from zOOm component admin page?
If so, then most likely scenario of what may cause inconsistent thumbs sizes:
There is a parameter in zOOm component settings with which you specify thumbs size. If you uploaded some set of images with thumbs size parameter specified at 100px and then later change this parameter to , say 150px and upload some more pics then you will have different size thumbs.
So, make sure you get all thumbs in your gallery of the same size (all portrait images are of the same size, and landscape thumbs respectively). Possible solution: delete images from gallery, specify thumbs size in setting for zOOm gallery and do not change it. Upload images with this parameter specified.
Also, note that slideshow module works only with thumbs which were generated by zOOm, and doesn’t crop thumbs or change them in any way. So if you have mixed set: landscape and portrait thumbs then they are displayed as is.
Bets,
I checked with zOOm gallery and it appeared that it still (as years ago) produce thumbs in a way that is unpredictable.
Setting thumbs size to 100px did not result in 100px thumbs in my experimental upload.
Check zOOm forums for discussions and solutions on this issue
Meanwhile, in slideshow module specify Slideshow size to match the size of biggest thumb.
Hello!
There appears to be some kind of conflict between the Zoom Slideshow v1.2b [dated 3/25/06] and the translation modules (JoomlaSpan Google Translation Module for Joomla v1.1 and Media 65 Google Language Translation Module).
When one selects a language in the JoomlaSpan Google Translation Module for Joomla v1.1 or the Media 65 Google Language Translation Module, a Pop-Up window saying something like the following occurs with both of the translation modules,
Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&langpair=en%7Ces&u=http://www.MyWebSite.HostingProvider.com/
Operation aborted.
This only occurs when the Zoom Slideshow v1.2b [dated 3/25/06] is published.
Can you look into this and see if there is a workaround for this problem. I have listed additional information about the translation modules below.
Thanks in advance.

Give me a couple of days. The problem is that i do not run Joomla as a web site. I have only localhost installation. I will try to reproduce this scenario.
UPDATE: I installed this language module. Slideshow module works. It’s some kind of conflicting but it may be caused not by slideshow having bugs. I want you to understand that things are getting too complicated when my module works. Other module may have bug or just not compatible with pages having javascript, or something.
I will trace any bugs in case when Slideshow just doesn’t work - will not show -up in some environments. With this translation module things are more complicated - I should trace this google module as well and should know its code and what it dose (on code level). I will look some more, but not sure that can help you. I advice you to inform google module developers about this issue as well.
Also, try to translate your page directly using google service to check if this is issue with translation module. They have this service somewhere in their directory. I can not do this due to localhost.
UPDATE: I translated my web page www.mamboat.com using Google service. Though my site is driven by WordPress, not Joomla, Slideshow engine is the same. So i’m afraid this is something to do with google module.
I installed SlideShow Module for Zoom Gallery to my site, but it does not show up in my module list. When I tried to reinstall it says it is already installed.
Posted this to the wrong module page earlier, sorry.
Help!
what is your configuration? gallery version, joomla version?
also, check if you have second page for modules (they are paged i think) and you just missed the page and that is the cause of not seeing the module?
I would like to use your slide show module. I have been using Zoom Gallery mod_zoom_pics but would like the slide show.
But the Only this Cathegorie NOT RECURSIVE option is only working if it is set to 0. I was getting this same error in the Zoom Gallery mod_zoom_pics as described in
http://www.zoomfactory.org/index.php?option=com_joomlaboard&Itemid=&func=view&catid=16&id=8630#8630
They fixed the problem. Could you grab their fix and fix it also for your slide show zoom gallery module. I am hoping that will fix my problem.
Thanks
Gail: I applied \”OnlyThisCat\” fix. Let me know if any problem.
